What Dr. Purifoy’s patients are saying...

Shannon Krueger, Esq
District Attorney

Dr. Purifoy performed a cosmetic procedure for me called crown lengthening. I am very pleased with the outcome! My teeth were not horrible; I just wasn’t pleased with how my gums looked. I had learned to keep my lips in a certain position and not smile too big so as not to show my gums. Now I smile as big as I can! Dr. Purifoy’s skill is amazing, and his staff is the best! I was sedated, and they kept me extremely comfortable. In the days that followed I took the prescription that Dr. Purifoy gave me for a couple of days, then switched to an over-the-counter pain reliever and was never in real pain. Dr. Purifoy’s assistant Mary called me several times to check on me. I am impressed with how well Dr. Purifoy runs his practice.

For several years I have had gum problems. My gums were crimson red. When I brushed my teeth, my gums would bleed. I had a fear of losing my teeth... I wanted to be able to bite an apple when I get old. My general dentist said that I needed to see a periodontist. A friend of ours is a dental hygienist, and she recommended that I see Dr. Bill Purifoy. Actually, she said If I were her family member, she would just put me in the car and take me to Dr. Purifoy. I was very apprehensive about seeing a gum specialist, because it seems frightening. I couldn’t have been more surprised. Dr. Purifoy was honest with me about my diagnosis and prognosis. He performed the Laser-technique gum surgery in his office, and I was comfortable during and after the procedure. This is not an invasive procedure, and it works! His staff is excellent. Today, my gums are healthy-looking pink, and I can floss without bleeding. Because of my healthy gums, I feel like my overall health is better.

I had a root canal 47 years ago, and my front tooth had become dark. My oldest son was getting married, and two weeks prior to the wedding I bit down on a sunflower seed and the tooth split. My family dentists Drs. Henry, Bob and Chris Long looked at my situation and told me I needed a dental implant. They referred me to Dr. Bill Purifoy to place the implant. On my visit to see Dr. Purifoy, he assured me the work could be done in time for the wedding. I had always thought there was no way to be anxiety-free in a dentist’s chair, but Dr. Purifoy put me at ease, and I was more comfortable than I thought I would be. This procedure was no worse than having a crown. The whole thing took about two hours, and when I left I had a temporary tooth that looked perfect. I ate mashed potatoes that night and went back to work the next day. Although Dr. Purifoy prescribed pain medication, I only took two Advil, and that’s all I needed. My dentists created a new permanent tooth that fits the implant. It looks and works just like my own tooth. Dr. Purifoy’s staff... from the first person you meet to his surgical assistant.... are GREAT! They each make you feel comfortable, and they are competent. They are a big part of his success. They made me feel more than important.... they enjoy their profession, and their good mood is very assuring.

I had receding gums, which made my teeth look long. Several years ago I had my right upper side grafted and it was the most painful and traumatic experience I have ever had. I had determined never to have the other side done. But my dentist, Dr. Weldon Bryant told me that I must have it done or lose my teeth. He referred me to Dr. Bill Purifoy and told me that Dr. Purifoy does gum surgery a different way. “Just go see him and hear what he has to say...” I learned that the procedure that Dr. Purifoy uses employs “Donor Tissue”, rather than the old method of harvesting tissue from the roof of my mouth. He said that the procedure wouldn’t hurt.... and HE WAS RIGHT! The recovery time was short: the procedure was on a Wednesday, and I was at an SMU basketball tournament on Friday, with no discomfort. Today my gums look healthy, and I am very pleased.

My teeth were badly decayed. My dentist is Dr. Mitchell Baxter, and he suggested that I get implants. I was referred to Dr. Bill Purifoy by a family friend. For my procedure I chose sleep sedation, and Dr. Purifoy pulled three upper teeth, did some bone grafting and placed three implants. Since my initial treatment Dr. Purifoy has placed five implants. It sounds painful but it’s not. During recovery I didn’t need any pain medication. Dr. Purifoy conferred closely with my personal dentist. After a few weeks healing time, the cosmetic work was completed by Dr. Baxter. My teeth really look good now! I would choose Dr. Purifoy again; he is competent and personable, and his staff is top notch.

I had infections and gum disease and had been under the constant care of my family dentist Dr. Amos Ross. Together with Dr. Ross I decided to have complete extractions and permanent lower dental implants. Dr. Ross referred me to Dr. Bill Purifoy for the extractions and the implants, and Dr. Ross did the cosmetic part, making me some gorgeous teeth.
Dr. Purifoy’s assistants are superb. I chose sleep sedation, and they kept me comfortable throughout the whole procedure. Dr. Purifoy prescribed pain meds but I didn’t need them.
I have had my implants now for two years with no problems whatsoever! I tell anyone with teeth that can’t be saved... “If you have sufficient bone support, GET IMPLANTS, they are the way to go!”

I had upper and lower Laser Periodontal Gum Treatment to save my teeth, plus I had three dental implants. My dentist is Dr. Amos Ross, and he referred me to Dr. Bill Purifoy. My husband had previously had the old fashioned type of gum grafting surgery, and so I knew just how painful it could be. I was petrified. I made my fear of gum surgery clear to Dr. Purifoy. He is so kind and explained in great detail the procedure and how he would control any discomfort. He was right, it was easy and pain free. He did the upper on one visit, waited three months, and then we did the lower. He uses a laser, and I chose local anesthesia. There was zero discomfort. He prescribed pain meds, and following surgery I took only one pill. For my second surgery I didn’t take any. My treatment is a huge success, and my dentist is amazed. And as for my implants, unless I show you... you won’t know which three I’ve had done. I could not be more pleased.
